Economic Security
At JIIA, we conduct research activities aimed at formulating policy recommendations that contribute to "Japanese Diplomacy in an Era of International Competition."
With growing threats to the international economic order in the context of economic security, we examine Japan's strengths—such as strategic autonomy and strategic indispensability—as well as its vulnerabilities, including chokepoints. We also take into account the civilian and public applications of advanced technologies, the development of dual use technologies, and the resulting transformations in operational and combat domains through their identification and assessment.
Based on these considerations, JIIA engages in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of information, and offers policy recommendations on revising and establishing international (economic) rules and norms, as well as strategies for cooperation with allied and like-minded nations.
