On November 1, 2024, the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) co-hosted the "Japan-Germany 1.5 Track Security Dialogue" with the Japan-Germany Center Berlin (JDZB), the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), the German Federal Foreign Office, and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Experts and government officials from both Japanese and German sides attended the dialogue and discussed the security situation in the Indo-Pacific region and Europe, as well as climate security in the closed sessions. In the public session, discussion was held under the theme "German-Japanese Cooperation Toward Maintaining and Strengthening the Rules-Based International Order". This Security Dialogue has been held since 2014, alternately in Japan and Germany.
