On 12 September, the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) held a roundtable discussion with the visiting experts from various institutes headed by the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House). At this roundtable, experts from Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States shared their views on the changing security environment in the Indo-Pacific region as well as the US presidential election and its implications for the Indo-Pacific region. In particular, the importance of diplomatic outreach to the so-called Global South countries was reaffirmed and there was a lively discussion on how to facilitate the efforts to sustain multilateral frameworks.
