The Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) held the 16th Trilateral Cooperation Forum of Japan, the Peoples' Republic of China (PRC), and the Republic of Korea (ROK) on December 6, 2023, in an online format. This Conference has been held regularly since 2008 with the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security, Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA-IFANS) and the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS).

Experts from Japan, the PRC and the ROK participated in this discussion and exchanged views on (1) global and regional security environment, (2) prospects for economic cooperation in the region, (3) measures for trilateral cooperation.
