The Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) held the 9th JIIA-INSS Conference on January 19, 2023 (online meeting). This Conference has been held regularly since 2010 with the Institute for National Security Strategy, the ROK (INSS).

Under the general theme "Northeast Asian Situation in 2023 and the Direction of Japan-U.S.-ROK Security Cooperation", Experts from both Japan and the ROK participated in this discussion and exchanged opinions on (1) Aspects of the 2023 U.S.-China Hegemony Competition and its Impact and Prospects on East Asia, (2) North Korea Situation in 2023 and Response of Japan and the ROK, and (3) Japan-U.S.-ROK Security Cooperation and Response of Japan and the ROK.
