On December 12, 2022, the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) co-hosted the "Third Japan-France Strategic Dialogue" with the French Foundation for Strategic Research (FRS), the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Japanese and French experts and government officials participated in this dialogue. They discussed the US-China rivalry and strategic balance, the Impact of the war in Ukraine on the security in Europe and Indo-Pacific, Maritime security and global norms, and Nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.
This dialogue was the first face-to-face meeting in five years since it was held in 2016 and 2017.
