The Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) co-organized a public webinar "The implications of Russia's invasion of Ukraine for Europe, Asia, and the international order" with the Embassy of Poland, the Embassy of Ukraine, and the Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW), on November 28, 2022. Ms. Tomiko Ichikawa, Director-General of the Japan Institute of International Affairs, moderated the webinar. In the first part, Mr. Paweł Milewski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Japan; Dr. Sergiy Korsunsky, Ambassador of the Republic of Ukraine to Japan; Mr. Kimitake Nakamura, Deputy Director-General / Deputy Assistant Minister (Ambassador); and Mr. Raymond Greene, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the United States made presentations on the meaning and impact of the invasion, and the responses of respective countries. This was followed by a panel discussion with Mr. Marek Menkiszak, Head of the Russian Department, Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW); Prof. Matake Kamiya, National Defense Academy; Prof. Chisako Masuo, Kyushu University; and Prof. Brad Glosserman, Senior Advisor at the Pacific Forum/Center for Rule Making Strategies, Tama University, in which the post-war international order and changes in the Indo-Pacific security environment was addressed from various perspectives. A lively discussion ensued, with many questions from the audience.
